“When you die, they will take away all your accessories, but not your tattoos” - Whang Od
Whang Od has dedicated her life to her tribe's traditional hand-tapped body painting. She is the Philippines' last remaining tattoo artist from the Kaling tribe. Many tattoos, according to some writers, have specific meanings or memories that a person has chosen to have permanently sketched on their flesh.
Tattoos are not only an art of expressing oneself, but they can also be the source of living for many people. Just like Whang Od, she can give joy to people through her tattoos and make a living at the same time. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone, isn’t it?
